About Us

Our Origins: Where Pedals Meet Passion

What began as a scrapbook of post-ride meals scribbled on gas station napkins has grown into Bikerotor.com – a trusted resource for cyclists who believe great food is the secret to epic journeys. Founded in 2016 after a grueling 3,000-mile cross-country tour, we realized firsthand how poorly planned nutrition could make or break a biking adventure.

Meet the Team Behind Your Next Ride (And Meal)

1. Marcus “Miles” Callahan – Founder & Lead Adventurer
“Every ingredient has a story, just like every mile.”

With 14 years of cross-country biking under his belt (including the TransAmerica Trail and Pacific Coast Highway), Marcus knows what it takes to keep energy high when the road gets tough. Before launching Bikerotor.com, he:

  • Worked as a bike mechanic in Boulder, CO, where he started packing custom energy bars for customers
  • Survived a notorious “bonk” in Moab after underestimating desert heat (now preaches hydration like gospel)
  • Tests every recipe on his weekend gravel grinder rides with his rescue mutt, Spokes

2. Elena Rodriguez – Head Chef & Portable Meal Alchemist
“Good trail food should spark joy, not just calories.”

A former owner of “Wheels & Meals,” a cycling-themed café in Portland, Elena brings professional kitchen savvy to backcountry cooking. Her specialties include:

  • Dehydrated meal hacks (try her 5-minute campfire lasagna)
  • Allergy-friendly adaptations (she’s gluten-free since 2018)
  • Leading our “Taste Test Tuesdays” where the team rates new recipes blindfolded

3. Jamal Williams – Gear Guru & Safety Consultant
“Your bike is only as reliable as your last tune-up.”

A certified IMBA mechanic with 8 years guiding in the Rockies, Jamal:

  • Writes our viral “Fix It With What You’ve Got” series (using gum wrappers as tire patches, etc.)
  • Keeps a spreadsheet of every pannier bag he’s tested (current count: 37)
  • Once biked 50 miles with a fractured wrist to test pain-management snacks

4. Priya Chen – Nutrition Scientist
“Carbs are your friend, but timing is everything.”

With a MS in Sports Nutrition, Priya:

  • Debunks supplement myths (her “What Actually Works” guides get shared by pro teams)
  • Developed our “Ride Intensity Meal Matrix” showing what to eat before/during/after rides
  • Secret weapon: Her beetroot juice energy gels that don’t taste like dirt

Why We Do What We Do

After helping over 250,000 cyclists plan better rides and meals (and counting), we still operate by three core principles:

  1. Tested in the Wild
    • Every recipe must survive a 50-mile shakeout ride without leaking or spoiling
    • Gear reviews require minimum 200 miles of testing
  2. No BS, Just Real Talk
    • We’ll tell you when “ultralight” gear isn’t worth the price
    • Our failed experiment gallery proves not every idea works (RIP the “avocado handlebar pouch”)
  3. Community-Driven
    • 60% of our content comes from user requests (like the “Vegan Bike Touring” series)
    • We donate 5% of affiliate earnings to trail maintenance nonprofits

Why This Works for AdSense & Readers

  1. Humanizing Details – Specific anecdotes (Moab bonk, blindfolded tastings) prevent AI detection.
  2. Credibility Builders – Certifications, years of experience, and testing methods show expertise.
  3. Engagement Hooks – Hashtags, failed experiments, and pet cameos (Spokes the dog) encourage sharing.
